Exam Blocks ยท For paper multiple-choice exams

Make printed quiz versions from a PDF of questions

If your questions are already in a PDF (last year's exam, a worksheet, a question bank chapter you are allowed to copy), Exam Blocks turns it into a printed quiz: box only the questions you want, and it prints them shuffled into Version A and Version B with an answer key. It does not write new questions or make an online quiz.

A sample PDF of questions, already boxed.
  • Your file never leaves your device.
  • Figures, formulas and tables print as you made them.
  • Free for two versions of up to 20 blocks.
Your page, boxed, becomes Version A and Version B Version A Version B Answer map A1 C A2 B A3 DB1 B B2 D B3 C

Worked case: 20 questions picked from a 45-question chapter PDF

  • Open the chapter PDF. Box only the 20 questions you want on the quiz; the other 25 are left out of every version.
  • Pick each boxed question's answer. The free page takes up to 20 blocks, which is exactly this quiz.
  • Set a title such as "Chapter 3 quiz". It prints at the top of every page with the version's letter, and the first page asks students to write that letter on their answer sheet.
  • Make the versions. Each version lays the 20 questions onto fresh letter-size pages in its own order, numbered 1 to 20, with the answer map for both.

Questions

Will it write questions from my PDF's text?

No. It uses the questions already in the PDF, exactly as they look.

Can I mix questions from two PDFs?

Not in one go: one PDF is open at a time. Combine the files into one PDF first, then box from it.

Does it make an online quiz?

No. The versions are PDFs to print.

What page size do the versions use?

US letter, with each question cut at 300 dots per inch so it prints sharp.
