For paper multiple-choice exams
Shuffle exam questions into versions. Keep your diagrams.
Box each question on your PDF, then print Version A and B with an answer map.
- Your file never leaves your device.
- Figures, formulas and tables print as you made them.
- Free for two versions of up to 20 blocks.
Start with question 1: drag from its top-left corner to below its last choice.
How it works
- Open your examThe PDF you already print. Word users save it as a PDF first.
- Box each questionDrag around the stem, figure and choices. Mark the right letter for the key.
- Group what belongs togetherTick "moves with the next block" so a passage keeps its questions.
- Print the versionsEach one is renumbered, with a version label and an answer map as PDF and CSV.
Questions
Does my exam get uploaded?
No. The page reads your PDF in your browser and writes the versions back to your computer. Nothing is sent anywhere.
Why are diagrams kept when other shufflers drop them?
Other shufflers read the text of each question and rebuild it. Exam Blocks cuts each box out of your page as a picture at print resolution, so a graph, a formula or a table comes along exactly as drawn.
What happens to the old question numbers?
Set the strip slider to the width of the numbers in your left margin. That strip is cut off each question and the new number is printed in its place. If your numbers sit inside the text, set it to off and the new numbers print beside the old.
My exam has a reading passage with several questions.
Box the passage, then each of its questions, and tick "moves with the next block" on all but the last. If the passage starts with a line like "Questions 7-9 refer to...", tick "its first line names question numbers" and that line is rewritten with the new numbers.
Does it shuffle the answer choices too?
Not yet. It shuffles whole questions, which is what keeps neighbors from sharing a page order. Choices stay as you wrote them.
Does it work with a scanned exam?
Yes. Boxes are cut as pictures, so a scan works the same way as a typed PDF.
