Shuffle test questions with diagrams, graphs and equations

Most question shufflers read the text of each question and rebuild it, so a graph, an equation or a table has to be added back by hand. Exam Blocks cuts each boxed question out of your PDF as a picture at 300 dots per inch and shuffles those pieces, so every figure prints exactly as you drew it.

  • Your file never leaves your device.
  • Figures, formulas and tables print as you made them.
  • Free for two versions of up to 20 blocks.

Worked case: a physics test with 8 free-body diagrams

  • Box each question with its diagram and its choices inside the same box. A question whose figure sits beside it is boxed wide enough to hold both.
  • If two questions share one diagram, box the diagram as a passage and tick "Moves with the next block" so it travels with both.
  • Make the versions. Each box is laid onto the new page at its original size, shrunk only if it is wider than the column or taller than a page, so an arrow or a subscript stays legible.
  • Check one printed version against the original: each diagram prints exactly as it was cut, with nothing redrawn or retyped.

Questions

Does it work with equations typed in Word or LaTeX?

Yes. Once the test is a PDF, an equation is part of the picture that is cut out, whatever made it.

Can a figure be bigger than half a page?

Yes. A tall question starts a new page, and one taller than a whole page is scaled down to fit.

Are the pictures sharp enough to print?

Each box is cut at 300 dots per inch, the usual print resolution.

Does it shuffle the choices under a diagram?

No. Choices stay where you put them, so a label like "see graph B" still points at the right thing.
