Shuffle the question order, and keep what belongs together

Exam Blocks shuffles whole questions: each box you draw on your PDF moves as one piece, with its stem, figure and choices. Tick "Moves with the next block" on a passage or a shared table, and it moves as one unit with its questions while everything else is shuffled around it.

Worked case: 12 questions, three of them share a data table

  • Box the table and questions 7, 8 and 9, and tick "Moves with the next block" on the table, 7 and 8. Those four boxes become one moving piece.
  • That leaves 10 pieces to shuffle: 9 single questions and the group. Ten pieces have 3,628,800 possible orders.
  • In Version A the group might land at numbers 2 to 4. If the table starts with a line like "Questions 7-9 refer to the following", tick "Its first line names question numbers" and that line prints as "Questions 2-4 refer to the following."
  • Inside the group nothing moves: the table stays first and its questions keep their order.

Questions

Can I keep question 1 in first place?

Not yet: every piece is shuffled. If a question has to come first, leave it unboxed and print it on a cover page.

How is the order picked?

Each version gets a random order, and the page checks that no two versions come out the same.

Does it shuffle answer choices?

No. Choices stay as you wrote them inside each question.

How many questions can I shuffle for free?

Up to 20 blocks, into two versions. A passage counts as one block.
