Answer key generator for a shuffled test

Pick the right letter on each question once, on your original. When Exam Blocks shuffles the test into versions, it writes the key for every version in its new order: a PDF to print beside your grading pile and a CSV for a spreadsheet.

A quiz with its answers already marked.
  • Your file never leaves your device.
  • Figures, formulas and tables print as you made them.
  • Free for two versions of up to 20 blocks.
Your page, boxed, becomes Version A and Version B Version A Version B Answer map A1 C A2 B A3 DB1 B B2 D B3 C

Worked case: a 15-question quiz

  • Box the 15 questions. In the list of blocks, each question has an answer menu: pick its letter there. That is 15 picks.
  • Make two versions. The answer map PDF prints Version A and Version B side by side, 15 rows each, with the answer and the question's original number on every row.
  • The CSV has 30 rows below its header, one per question per version. Sort it by original_number to see where each question landed in both versions.
  • Before test day, check one printed version against its key: the page numbers each version's questions in the order they print.

Questions

What if I skip a question's answer?

That row prints a dash in the key, so you can spot it and fill it in by hand.

Can I make a key without shuffling?

The keys come with the versions. If you want only the original's key, use Version A's "original number" column, sorted.

Does it read the answers from my PDF?

No. You pick each answer once in the list beside the page; it does not guess from the text.

Is the key uploaded?

No. Everything is made in your browser and saved to your computer.
